The VPN Client on a remote PC, communicating with a Cisco VPN device at an enterprise or service provider, creates a secure connection over the Internet that lets you access a private network as if you were an on-site user. The VPN Client is an application that runs on a Microsoft ® Windows ®-based PC, a Sun ultraSPARC workstations, a Linux desktop, or a Macintosh (Mac) personal computer that meets the system requirements stated in the next section. The section, "Usage Notes," describes interoperability considerations and other issues you should be aware of when installing and using the VPN Client.Where applicable, caveat identifiers appear in parentheses following new feature descriptions and usage notes. Please read the release notes carefully prior to installation.
